What is Family?

"What is Family?"

In the last 5 years this question has been asked and the answers debated on all levels of government, schools, churches, and even homes.

In June of 1996, as I participated with thousands of government and non-government organizations at the United Nations Habitat II Conference held in Istanbul, Turkey, I witnessed, first hand, those that opposed the very foundation of society, the enemies of the traditional family. I sat in wonderment trying to understand why individuals would oppose the very union of a father and mother that sacrificed for and in behalf of their birth entry into this world.

I suppose that selfishness and pride would best describe this anti-family movement.

"What is family?"

It is sad that we have to ask and explore this question at all. There isn't a living soul on this earth that does not have a father and a mother. It is this union of two people that gives our existence future. It was the divine plan for peopling this earth and providing the proper support group of father, mother, brother, and sister, to give emotional and loving support to each other. A family is and should be the one societal organization that we can always trust and support.

Next month the "World Congress of Families II" will be held in Geneva, Switzerland. Pro-family groups from all over the world will meet from November 14th through November 17th. The outcome of this conference will be to join together in the fight and preservation of the family. "A Call from the Families of the World", a petition with millions of signatures, will be delivered to the United Nations, showing the overwhelming support for the traditional form of the family.

Join with Families Worldwide in the support of the family. Families Worldwide currently has 31 international chapters. The work is growing and the support is strong.

Onward and Upward!
